Qi Sun's research has made significant contributions to the development of novel diagnostic tools and therapeutics for plant diseases. A recent self-reporting nanosensor enables the detection of bacterial exploitation in plants through extracellular DNA, offering a promising approach to early disease intervention. Additionally, bioinspired gelated cell sheet-supported Lactobacillus biofilms have been engineered for the diagnosis and treatment of aerobic vaginitis, a common women's health issue. These innovations demonstrate Qi Sun's expertise in integrating biomaterials and microbiomics to address pressing plant and human health challenges, with potential applications in precision agriculture, personalized medicine, and public health initiatives.
