United States Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service
Berhanu Tameru's research contributions span various fields, including food safety, infectious disease epidemiology, and public health. They have developed quantitative risk metrics to support sanitary measure reviews in international trade and assessed the risks of introducing zoonotic diseases through live animal imports. Their work also investigates the linkages between knowledge of HIV/AIDS and related risky behaviors among people living with HIV/AIDS. Furthermore, Tameru has explored psychosocial factors as predictors of HIV/AIDS risky behaviors and their responses to perceived cancer risk in African-American communities. Additionally, they have evaluated the association between substance use and risky sexual behaviors among middle school children and assessed the impact of HIV/AIDS status on substance use patterns.
