Bushra R. Mahdi has made significant contributions to the fields of optics and photonics through their research on novel optical sensing techniques. Recent publications have focused on developing q-switched erbium-doped fiber lasers based on nanodiamond saturable absorbers, passively mode-locked lasers utilizing the same technology, and photonic crystal fiber sensors for X-ray dose measurement and zinc concentration detection in human serum and blood samples. Additionally, an overview of optical fiber sensing techniques has been provided, highlighting the versatility and accuracy of these methods for various applications. These advancements have the potential to enhance medical diagnostics and monitoring, as well as industrial processes relying on precise radiation detection.
