Researcher Ciro Invernizzi has made significant contributions to the fields of apiculture and parasitology. Recent studies have focused on understanding the interactions between honey bees and various ectoparasites, including the epormenis cestri mite, which causes mass death of larvae in colonies. These findings highlight the importance of understanding the genetic diversity of invasive species and their impact on host populations. Invernizzi's work has also shed light on the effects of nutritional stress on honey bee colony health and the role of phoretic mites in maintaining population dynamics. Furthermore, research on viral infections, such as those caused by Nosema ceranae, and the impact of toxic secretions from trees on honey bee larvae has provided valuable insights into the complex relationships between these organisms.
