Cuixing Zhou's research has made significant contributions to understanding various disease mechanisms, particularly in the context of kidney and prostate health. In one study, a quantitative increase in short-chain fatty acids, such as butyrate, was found to protect the kidney from ischemia/reperfusion injury, highlighting potential therapeutic applications for this condition. Another investigation discovered that upregulation of mir-18a-5p promotes prostate cancer proliferation by inhibiting slc40a1 expression. Additionally, Zhou's work identified let-7c-5p as a key regulator in chronic kidney disease, targeting TGF-β signaling pathways, and explored the functional implications of exosomal mir-217 and mir-23b-3p in prostate cancer progression.
