Gopi Krishnan

McMaster University

Gopi Krishnan's research focuses on the development of novel 2D materials and nanostructures with exceptional mechanical reliability and unique properties. By exploring confinement heteroepitaxy, vapor confinement, and electrospinning techniques, Krishnan has synthesized monolayer MoS2 and WSe2 with improved mechanical stability, as well as substrate-independent magnesium nanowires and bimetallic nanoparticles. Their work has also revealed strategies for initiating and controlling the nucleation behavior of bimetallic nanoparticles and demonstrated the potential of surfactant-driven synthesis of hierarchical hollow structures. These findings have significant implications for the development of advanced materials with tailored properties, enabling applications in energy storage, electronics, and beyond.
