Isabel Borrás has made significant contributions to the fields of nutrition and cardiovascular health through their research on plant-derived polyphenols. A recent study found that these compounds regulate the expression of microRNA paralogs mir-103/107 and mir-122, which play a crucial role in preventing diet-induced fatty liver disease in hyperlipidemic mice. Additionally, another article assessed the efficacy of a comprehensive programme of secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease in general practice through The PRESEAP study, a randomized clinical trial that demonstrated promising results in reducing cardiovascular risk factors.
