Researcher Jeanette E. Bröms has made significant contributions to the fields of bacterial pathogenesis and virulence, shedding light on the molecular mechanisms underlying Francisella species' ability to infect hosts. By elucidating the roles of pilo, ClpB, and IgG in stress responses and virulence, as well as the unique characteristics of novel T6SS proteins and needle-tip translocators, Bröms has expanded our understanding of type IV pili component pilo's importance in Francisella novicida's pathogenicity. Furthermore, studies on Francislvs, Francisella tularensis, and Yersinia pseudotuberculosis have uncovered critical substrates secreted by Type VI secretion systems, essential virulence factors, and the significance of T6SS proteins in modulating host cell targeting and invasion. These findings hold promise for the development of novel therapeutic strategies against bacterial pathogens.
