Jie Yang's research has made significant contributions to various scientific fields. In the area of neurodegenerative diseases, Yang's work on pathophysiology characterization of Alzheimer's disease in South China's aging population sheds light on the greater-Bay Area Healthy Aging Brain Study (GHABS), providing valuable insights into the aging brain. Additionally, Yang's research on ferroptosis inhibition and its implications for kidney damage has opened up new avenues for treatment options. In other fields, Yang has discovered novel compounds with potential applications in immunotherapy, wastewater treatment, and antimicrobial peptide development, including a hybrid catalyst for photocatalytic degradation of broad-spectrum antibiotics and a bioinspired 3D hierarchical nanoparticle system for simultaneous detection and removal of fluoride ions.
