Instituto Federal de Goiás
Joachim Werner Zang's research has significantly contributed to sustainable agriculture and resource management in low- and middle-income countries. Their studies have explored the potential of sugarcane bagasse ash as a fertilizer for soybeans, highlighting its phosphorus extractability and plant availability (1). Additionally, they investigated the effectiveness of closed-loop biodigesters on small-scale farms (2) and biogas production from sugarcane as a sole substrate (4), providing insights into continuous biogas production. Zang's work also focuses on life cycle assessment and systemic reviews to address water-waste-energy-food nexus in Brazil, identifying research agendas for improvement (5, 6).
