Kazuhiro Kasai
Iwate Medical University
Kazuhiro Kasai's research has made significant contributions to the treatment and management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), particularly in the context of advanced disease. Studies have explored various chemotherapy regimens, including hepatic arterial infusion therapy, which has shown promise for patients with major portal vein tumor thrombus. Additionally, investigations into the mechanisms underlying efficacy have implicated transforming growth factor regulation. Furthermore, research on liver stiffness patterns has identified bimodal peaks indicative of drug-induced liver injury. Kasai's work also highlights the therapeutic potential of combination therapies involving intra-arterial 5-fluorouracil and systemic pegylated interferon α‐2b for HCC with portal venous invasion, as well as the benefits of branched-chain amino acid-enriched nutrition post-radiofrequency ablation.
