Robert D. Bolskar
TDA Research (United States)
Robert D. Bolskar has made significant contributions to the fields of materials science, polymer chemistry, and nanotechnology through their research on methacrylate polymers, fullerene derivatives, and gadolinium-based contrast agents. Their work includes the development of novel polymers that retain physico-mechanical properties despite esterase exposure and the design of dental polymers with flipped external ester groups that resist degradation. Additionally, Bolskar has investigated the biodegradability of fullerene derivatives, including bacterial cell-mediated biodegradation, white-rot basidiomycete decomposition, and nanoscale aggregation studies. These findings have important implications for biomedical applications, materials science, and environmental sustainability, highlighting the potential for advanced materials to resist degradation and maintain functionality in various environments.
