Salvacion Gatchalian
Philippine General Hospital
Salvacion Gatchalian's research focuses on vaccine safety and immunogenicity, with a primary emphasis on developing and evaluating vaccines for tropical diseases. Recent studies have explored the safety and efficacy of DTaP-HBv/Hib vaccines in healthy infants, as well as the immunogenicity and safety of adjuvanted inactivated polio vaccines compared to standard IPV. Additionally, research has been conducted on pediatric tuberculosis infection in the Philippines, antibody persistence after primary immunization with Japanese Encephalitis vaccine, and comparison of measles and Japanese Encephalitis vaccines. These studies have significant implications for vaccination programs in low-HIV and high-TB-burden settings, contributing to improved child health outcomes in the Asia-Pacific region.
