Simon Toubeau
University of Nottingham
Simon Toubeau's recent research has significantly advanced our understanding of public policy in multi-level systems. By exploring the interplay between central governments and regional authorities in Spain and Italy, Toubeau sheds light on how regional governments adapt to austerity measures and adjust their spending policies. This work also examines the relationship between party support in multi-level elections, economic perceptions, and vertical congruence. Furthermore, Toubeau's research delves into the impact of regional nationalism on constitutional change in parliamentary democracies, highlighting a framework for analysis. These studies collectively contribute to our knowledge of territorial politics, institutional change, and party competition in the context of decentralization.
